1977 Date
The serial number is too high to be a 1977 version.
I could be wrong, checking the chip dates gives a accurate
estimation of the production date.
The computer can't be earlier than the newest date code on
the chips.
Example: 7812 12 week of 78

TRS-80
Back in the mid/late 1970s I used to go into the Radio Shack 4 blocks from my home and drool over these TRS-80s. I never bought one because I was a bachelor and lived in a neighborhood that was not the best. I always feared having it stolen if I bought one; though i could afford it. I was an IBM mainframe operator then, working on an IBM-370-115. Many years later I learned COBOL, and variants of BASIC and i still play around with Quick Basic and COBOL for fun on my PC. (eMachines W3410 - Windows XP SP3).
I am enjoying your online museum. I miss old 1979s and 198os computers. Wish we had preserved more of them. We are such a "throw away" society in America.
"byte" me forever my friend...(laughing)
