You can now buy a port of this game on iPad. Only takes a few minutes to reach maximum score, but for a nostalgia burst you can't go wrong.

I remember playing this exact same game at some rich Arab kid's house in London, Christmas 1978. The weird thing is I never saw this game anywhere again until about 1981. I don't know why. Maybe his wealthy parents imported it from Japan but it was definitely labelled Galaxy Invader on the front, in English and not Japanese. Must've only come out a few months after space invaders hit the arcades so I can understand why 1978 sounds rather too early.

Chris Abbott

I think this was released in 1979 or 1980 - inspired by the Space Invaders arcade game, which was invented in 1978.
