I'm not sure I can picture Sauron saying "bugger me."

Glad everyone got the chance to have tea, though. Well, everyone except Sauron.

If it had been 58 word stories, they would have been able to have tea and cream-cakes... In fact, in the original they had crumpets but I had to sacrifice that whole plot addition to save 2 words I am afraid.

I'm a complete Tolkien fan and when I read this story It made me feel better to know that some people are as passionate as me.

Loved this short solution of what was such a long and tedious journey - it does make sense!

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have noticed that particular gaping plot-hole. Quite inexcusable, as much as I do love the books. =)

You honestly don't think that the nazguls circling around Mt.Doom would strike down the eagles in seconds?

At the time Bilbo had the ring there wasn't much of that going on.

The realism of the above is exagerated

By the time that Bibo had the ring the nazgul were back. Besides, the books mention an endless storm (as in lightning) in the mountains surrounding mordor, and in "The Hobbit" the eagle's leader makes it clear that arrows can ill them with little trouble. Horde of orcs, anyone?
